Asymptotic Approximation by Regular Languages

چکیده

This paper investigates a new property of formal languages called \(\mathrm {REG}\)-measurability where {REG}\) is the class regular languages. Intuitively, language \(L\) {REG}\)-measurable if there exists an infinite sequence that “converges” to \(L\). A without has complex shape in some sense so it can not be (asymptotically) approximated by We show several context-free are (including with transcendental generating function and density, particular), while certain simple deterministic set primitive words {REG}\)-immeasurable strong sense.

Strongly Regular Grammars and Regular Approximation of Context-Free Languages

We consider algorithms for approximating context–free grammars by regular grammars, making use of Chomsky’s characterization of non–self–embedding grammars as generating regular languages and a transformation by Mohri and Nederhof on sets of mutually recursive nonterminals. We give an exposition of strongly regular grammars and this transformation, and use it as a subprocedure to obtain tighter...

TOPOLOGICAL CHARACTERIZATION FOR FUZZY REGULAR LANGUAGES

We present a topological characterization for fuzzy regular languages: we show that there is a bijective correspondence between fuzzy regular languages and the set of all clopen fuzzy subsets with finite image in the induced fuzzy topological space of Stone space (Profinite space), and then we give a representation of closed fuzzy subsets in the induced fuzzy topological space via fuzzy regular...

Regular Approximation of Computation Paths in Logic and Functional Languages

The aim of this work is to compute descriptions of successful computation paths in logic or functional program executions. Computation paths are represented as terms, built from special constructor symbols, each constructor symbol corresponding to a speci c clause or equation in a program. Such terms, called trace-terms, are abstractions of computation trees, which capture information about the...

Practical experiments with regular approximation of context-free languages

Several methods are discussed that construct a nite automaton given a context-free grammar, including both methods that lead to subsets and those that lead to supersets of the original context-free language. Some of these methods of regular approximation are new, and some others are presented here in a more re ned form with respect to existing literature. Practical experiments with the di erent...

The Almost Equivalence by Asymptotic Probabilities for Regular Languages and Its Computational Complexities

We introduce p-equivalence by asymptotic probabilities, which is a weak almost-equivalence based on zero-one laws in finite model theory. In this paper, we consider the computational complexities of p-equivalence problems for regular languages and provide the following details. First, we give an robustness of p-equivalence and a logical characterization for p-equivalence. The characterization i...
